BROWNOUT : BROWN SABBATH

This band was so cool and so much fun I've been telling everybody I know about them. They are a funk music collective from Oakland who sometimes play with Prince and are all accomplished musicians. But
what they did that was shear genius was play a whole set of BLACK SABBATH tunes with a funk back beat and HORNS. Yep you read that right, Black Sabbath with horns!! And here's the thing IT WORKS! The band first play a set of original material which in and of itself would be fantastic, but then they take a 10 minute break, turn all the lighting in the venue blood red and hit the stage with SABBATH tunes. Like I said GENIUS! Big props to The Observatory for booking such a cool show. There were not a lot of people at the venue this night but I think every one of them left happy and surely told 20 of their friends. Here's hoping Brownout are back in the OC soon and word of mouth brings in a bigger crowd for them. They deserve it.
