You don't hear that everyday..... Mazel Tov!
The lighting for the show was pretty bad, mostly they just stuck it on one color per song and for some reason the guitar player and lead vocalist decided to set up on far stage left and he was completely in shadow all night. I only mention this because I was asked to shoot the show by the bands PR company and it made it much more difficult to get quality shots. These are some of the little
things EVERY band that is starting out should think about. It really does pay off if you can maximize every opportunity to get press when you are in the early stages of your career. Later on, if you're lucky you'll have people to think about these things for you.
I used an 85mm prime lens for most of these shots, it works well in low light situations and is always pretty sharp. If you're just starting out shooting concerts this is a lens that is not too expensive ($400-$500) and that I would recommend you picking up to add to your kit.
