Storming into town from Detroit Rock City the Electric Six always seem to hit the stage like a souped up muscle car. As many times as I've seen them, I never get tired of their blend of humor and impressive musicianship. Dick Valentine is the literate goof ball of indie rock; waving at the crowd, doing push-ups during guitar solos and telling funny and often off color stories between songs. Valentine and his band mates always deliver a great evening of fun, high energy rock. And you can tell they are from Detroit, because as hard as they rock you can still dance to the songs. That mixture of rock n' soul music is something they have in common with The MC5, The Rationals, The Dirtbombs and every other great band from The Motor City, the musical melting pot that just might have given the world more great bands than any other town in America.
